Pier fishing in the heart of the resort area. No fishing license required. Hours vary by season. Pier operates from April through October and is open 24 hours from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Along with its historical significance, First Landing State Park offers opportunities to explore a unique habitat featuring lagoons, large cypress trees and rare plants. More than 19 miles of hiking trails wind through the natural area, guided kayak ecological tours allow exploration of the marshes and bays, and the visitor center exhibits explain much about this coastal environment.

Kids, teens, adults and groups visiting the Virginia Aquarium can experience the natural world in an exciting new way—at the The Adventure Park. Outdoor fun-seekers five years old and up are able to “take to the trees” above the Aquarium’s Nature Paths and across Owls Creek in 13 different challenge level “treetop trails” containing 170 thrilling “crossings” between tree platforms. An approximately 9200-acre beach, woodland and marsh refuge for a wide variety of migratory birds, endangered species and other wildlife, including snow geese, marsh hawks, red foxes, loggerhead turtles and American Bald Eagles. These tranquil habitats can be accessed by marsh trails, bikes, a boardwalk overlook and the beach itself.
New Earth Farm is a working, sustainable and educational farm started by “Farmer John” Wilson in 1995. We grow and provide all-natural, chemical-free produce and products for the health of you and the environment! We put a focus on building healthy soil through composting, input of biological material, utilizing cover crops, crop rotation, natural mulches and more. We are also working on becoming a carbon sequestering farm through the making and use of bio-char.
The Atlantic Wildfowl Heritage Museum is located in a historically registered and last remaining Virginia Beach Boardwalk cottage, de Witt Cottage, which was built in 1895.
The Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) is a nonprofit institution founded in 1952 to foster awareness, exploration and understanding of the significant art of our time. The original Cape Henry Lighthouse was the first lighthouse authorized by the U.S. government, dating from 1792. It was also the first federal construction project under the Constitution, for an original contract amount of $15,200. This state-of-the-art performance venue showcases a variety of cultural programs. Residents and visitors can share great works of music, dance and theater, from the classics to the cutting edge.
Housed in a 1903 former Life-Saving Station, the museum tells the story of the men who served in the US Life-Saving Service and the US Coast Guard. Visitors to the museum galleries are given an insight into the early days of shipwrecks along the Virginia coast and the efforts of the life-savers at the stations.
