Built for the Pan-American Games of 2007, the Estadio Olimpico Municipal Joao Havelange was built by the City Hall in an old land that used to belong to Rede Ferroviaria Federal, on Rua Jose dos Reis, in the neighborhood of Engenho de Dentro, North side of Rio de Janeiro. Inaugurated on June 30th 2007, with Botafogo's victory against Flamengo by 2X1, the stadium is considered to be the most modern in Latin America and the 5th most modern in the world. It has 45,217 seats being 21,549 on the superior ring and 23,668 on the inferior ring. Handicap Accommodations are up-to 250 seats.
