Micro Museum is a unique living art center in Downtown Brooklyn and dedicated to interactive, media, visual and performing arts. Micro Museum, was founded in 1986 as the original inter-disciplinary art center for Kathleen & William Laziza and their collaborators. It is a 501c3 organization by the name of Promote Art Works, Inc. Micro Museum offers space for rental purpose for events that are not specifically parties. The spaces work best for professional meetings or retreats, seminars, training workshops, video screening, auditions for music, dance, theater, and other events relating to educational and art. There are 2 floors at the site (Sorry 2nd floor is not accessible by wheelchair). Stairs connect the 2 spaces. The first floor is fully accessible and has many original interactive, visual and media art works. There is an elevated 7 X 7 "soapbox" stage in the window at street level with a PA system and a white curtain is available to remove the street action from your presentation. Misc. couches and chairs are available with some flexibility to arranging to your liking. The 2nd floor houses a 250 sq foot cozy conference room with seating from 6 - 12 people, a 225 sq ft reception or waiting room, and a 725 sq ft multi-purpose room with 500 sq ft clear to layout furniture, tables, chairs etc..... All the spaces are art filled including a solar powered kinetic sculpture in the 2nd floor conference room and an eight foot wooden chair in the 2nd floor main room. The main room also has a 12 foot video projection screen, misc couches, tables and chairs. Micro Museum is located in Boerum Hill area of downtown Brooklyn, it is less than 2 blocks from the F & G trains, approximately 8 blocks from all other major MTA and LIRR transportation. There is meter parking on the block plus municipal parking 2 blocks away. Smith Street is a very trendy street with dozens of high, medium and low priced restaurants, specialty stores, designer boutiques, health, beauty, spa, entertainment, hotels and BAM's cultural center. The facilities has a limited food and drink policy because there is no workable sink on the premise so all catering must take that factor into consideration with preferences that the 2nd floor reception room be used as the serving area of food and drinks. However we will work with you to make your event at Micro Museum a success and comfortable for your attendees. There are some rules regarding food and drinks near the art works on the first floor. All catering must be cleared and cleaned completely, including trash at the end of your rental period.
