The hotel is originally a former Palace built in the Nineteenth Century to house Empress Eugenie who was the guest of honor of the Egyptian ruler at the time, Khedive Ismail for the ceremonial inauguration of the Suez Canal. He lavishly addressed all his guest needs and meant to not only meet but definitely exceed their expectations.The Cairo Marriott Hotel as it stands now it a former Royal Palace flanked by 2 twin twenty storey each, the twin towers featuring more than 1,000 luxurious rooms and approx. 110 suites, 15 restaurants and 35,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space. It boosts a magnificent blend of the ultimate in yesterday opulence and the state of the art modern tomorrow luxury. Another unique feature for the Cairo Marriott Hotel is that it encompasses within its grounds what remains of the former palatial gardens with all its magnificence affording this hotel to be an oasis of peace and tranquility amidst the bustling city of Cairo.The hotel is located at an island on the Nile, called Zamalek , at the core of Cairo residential elite spot as well as being the diplomatic district of Egypt.The “Palace Al Gezira” was built by Khedive Ismail as a guest Palace for the Suez Canal Inauguration celebrations in 1869.
