Rocky River Golf Club is the premier public golf course in the Charlotte metropolitan area. Located at the Embassy Suites, Concord Golf Resort and Spa, it’s one of the only courses in the area to offer stay and play packages. The Dan Maples design is a fair, but challenging layout that uses the existing terrain to create a beautiful, winding layout. Dramatic rock outcroppings and various species of native wetland grasses surround the course to create a remote setting. Large, contoured greens make accurate iron play a necessity, and length off the tee will make at least two of the three par 5’s reachable in two shots. With a renovation to the greens in 2012, Rocky River Golf Club now features Mini Verde Bermuda grass putting greens, which provide a great surface all year round.

For more than 50 years, Charlotte Motor Speedway has set the standard for motorsports entertainment. Nestled in the heart of NASCAR country, CMS is the only race vacation destination where fans can be immersed in the sport by taking in an event at the legendary 1.5 mile superspeedway, visiting race team shops and exploring the NASCAR Hall of Fame in the same weekend! Built in 1960, the superspeedway now hosts three NASCAR Sprint Cup Series events, two NASCAR Xfinity Series races and a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race each year. Completed in 2008, zMAX Dragway hosts National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) events twice a year in the spring and fall. As a track of “firsts,” the best way to describe the “Bellagio of Drag Strips” is by the numbers. Take a look! 2 pedestrian tunnels. zMAX Dragway is the first drag strip in the world to feature two tunnels underneath the strip to increase fan mobility. 125 dragway acreage. The elevation is 630 feet, and zero is the number of places on the campus where you’ll escape the thunderous sounds during an event! 3,835 feet is the length of the dragway. 1,345 feet of the length is concrete, and the dragway is 60 feet wide. The Shutdown length is 2,515 feet. 11 luxury suites in the dragway tower. You’ll find 17 more located on top of John Force Grandstands. 500 number of cars that competed in front of yet another sold-out crowd when popular TV show ‘PINKS All Out’ came to zMAX Dragway in 2009. Be dusted with Carolina red clay after an unbelievable show! Completed in 2000, this state-of-the-art four-tenths-mile clay oval is located across Highway 29/Concord Pkwy from the superspeedway. The stadium-style facility has 14,000 seats and annually hosts the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series and the World of Outlaws Late Model Series along with a championship Monster Truck spectacular.
In 1984, Rick Hendrick founded All-Star Racing. That year, the fledgling outfit fielded a single NASCAR team with five full-time employees and 5,000 square feet of leased workspace. Today, the organization is headquartered in Concord, and has grown to 430,000 square feet. Located a mile from Charlotte Motor Speedway, this campus features cutting-edge equipment and supports four full-time teams in NASCAR’s top division – the Sprint Cup Series. Hendrick Motorsports welcomes the public at no charge into the shops of drivers Kasey Kahne, Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, and Dale Earnhardt Jr for a peek behind-the-scenes. Legendary artist Sam Bass is the First Officially Licensed Artist of NASCAR, and his gallery of motorsports art showcases more than 300 pieces including originals, limited edition prints, illustrations, fine art posters and the history of “special” paint schemes in NASCAR. The Sam Bass Gallery is the only art gallery exclusively dedicated to the art of NASCAR. Get a glimpse into Sam’s other artistic passion, music and guitars. Bass has a vast collection of rock and roll memorabilia.
This must-see auto museum beside Charlotte Motor Speedway houses 18,000 square feet of classic cars and memorabilia. Highlights include an ‘88 Monte Carlo driven by Terry Labonte that won the Winston (now the NASCAR All-Star Race) and two of the cars Will Ferrell drove in the film ‘Talladega Nights.’ Along with auto-related souvenirs in the gift shop, several items throughout the museum are for sale such as posters, photographs and record label promo items.
All aboard! Visit company headquarters and see Lionel's own train layouts in action. Opened in 2014, the Concord retail stores offers a huge selection of O-Gauge sets, refurbished product, track pieces, scratch and dent and NASCAR die-cast cars.
This state-of-the-art facility features cars on display and fan viewing areas to watch as the crew prepares for the next race. Chip Ganassi has been a fixture in the auto racing industry for over 25 years. Today his teams include four cars in the IndyCar Series, two cars in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, and one Prototype in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship. CGR fields two full time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers in the 2015 season. Jamie McMurray in the No. 1, one of only three drivers to have won the Daytona 500 and the Brickyard 400 in a single season (2010), and Kyle Larson in the No. 42., 2013 NASCAR Nationwide Series Rookie of the Year. The Team Store on campus has the latest driver tees, die-cast replicas, caps and souvenirs.

The driver lineup for the 2015 NASCAR season includes Greg Biffle, Elliott Sadler, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Chris Buescher, Trevor Bayne, Ryan Reed and Bubba Wallace. Celebrating their 65th Anniversary in 2015, Wood Brothers Racing has officially been recognized as NASCAR’s longest active team by the Guinness Book of World Records. Founded in 1950 by stock-car racing pioneers Glen and Leonard Wood, Wood Brothers Racing is the winningest team in Ford Racing history. Leonard Wood was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame Class of 2013 and Glen Wood into the Class of 2012. Wood Brothers Racing enters the 2015 NASCAR season with 21-year-old Sprint Cup Series newcomer Ryan Blaney behind the wheel of the #21 Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Fusion. This single-car Sprint Cup operation is located Harrisburg just minutes from Charlotte Motor Speedway. For the 2015 Sprint Cup season, driver AJ Allmendinger will once again be behind the wheel the No. 47 Chevrolet SS and has his sights set on victory in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Stewart-Haas Racing is the title-winning NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team co-owned by three-time Sprint Cup champion Tony Stewart and Gene Haas, founder of Haas Automation – the largest CNC machine tool builder in the western world. The Depot is a tourist destination for "Pickers" of antique furniture, household items and mementos from the past. Folks drive in from across the region, and from as far away as New York and Florida, to explore the Depot's huge 88,000 square feet sales floor. More than 600 individual dealers stock their booths with one-of-a-kind items. The Depot at Gibson Mill has quickly become the largest and most popular antique mall in the Southeastern United States.
Our indoor showroom is positioned on the southeast corner of the property with 60,000 square feet of sales floor space and storage. As a means of continuing a close tie with classic car owners and enthusiasts, we offer a meeting room for car clubs and other groups to hold meetings, parties and other special events. Located in the former courtroom of the picturesque Historic Cabarrus Courthouse, this beautiful theatre is home to touring productions, local music and classic films. A full season of performances runs September to May. With just 230 seats and recent renovations, the Davis Theatre provides an unsurpassed entertainment experience. Erected in 1876 and on the National Register of Historic Places, the historic courthouse is one of North Carolina’s finest late 19th century public buildings. The building is a synthesis of the Greek Revival, Italianate and Second Empires styles. The layout of the Club at Irish Creek takes full advantage of the mature forest, the natural rolling terrain, and the pristine lake, which is visible from 16 of the 18 holes. The goal was to create a course that challenges skilled players to think their way from tee to green, but with few forced carries, wide fairways, and ample greens, it’s friendly to recreational and new golfers. The private course is host of the North Carolina Open and is an official site for both US Amateur and PGA Tour Qualifying. In 1945, Eddie Ray began his career in the music industry. From stock boy to record industry executive, Ray is now a living legend who preserves our state’s musical heritage and legacies of artists like John Coltrane, Charlie Daniels, Roberta Flack and other musicians, singers, songwriters and producers from all genres of music with roots in North Carolina. Located along A and C Streets and North Loop Road, Village Park offers an amphitheater, walking trail, the Rotary Express train, a splash pad, playground, picnic shelters and open space. Each weekend throughout the summer, the park comes alive with the Kannapolis Summer Events Series, free, family-friendly events that include live arts, concerts, movies and storytelling.
Newly relocated, White Owl Antique Mall is still brimming with unique finds! Browse through old-fashioned pieces like furniture, pottery, handmade soaps, jewelry, crafts and more vintage gems. Friday night auctions add to the appeal making White Owl a don’t-miss shopping experience in Cabarrus County.
The first documented discovery of gold in the US happened right here in Cabarrus County when 12-year-old Conrad Reed discovered a 17-pound gold nugget in Little Meadow Creek. After using it as a doorstop for three years, Conrad’s father John Reed sold the nugget for $3.50 to a jeweler in Fayetteville without realizing its value. Upon his return, he and three friends began searching the creek bed for gold, effectively starting the nation’s first gold rush. Today, this state historic site is the only underground gold mine in North Carolina open to the public. Pan for gold (April-October), explore restored portions of underground tunnels on a guided tour, view exhibits of historic mining equipment and enjoy walking trails. Admission is free; panning is $3 per pan.
Where grassroots racing lives! Since 1982, nationally ranked drivers like Bobby Labonte, Ernie Irvan, Jack Sprague and many more of today’s racing greats have taken the checkered flag at Concord USA to start their careers. Cabarrus County’s home track encompasses a half-mile tri-oval and quarter-mile oval. The Quarter-Mile hosts Legend Car, Bandolero and Davis SRL Series weekly. The Half-Mile track hosts special events and touring series races and is available for private testing, driving schools and TV and motion picture production.
This regional system of trails, greenways and blue ways spans 15 counties across North and South Carolina with 220 miles open to the public for mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, running and fishing. Cabarrus County is now home to several trails and two public canoe and kayak launch sites on the Rocky River with more miles being developed in Concord, Midland and Mt. Pleasant.
Sit-Down Tastings are available on a first come, first served basis and last an average of 15-20 minutes – reservations for groups of 6 or more are requested so we can accommodate everyone in a timely manner. Currently our wine tasting includes a selection of eight Rocky River Vineyards wines as well as samples of our wine slushies and hot mulled wine. The cost for a tasting is $8+tax per person. A souvenir glass with a tasting is an additional $2. We do offer 1 – 2 samples free of charge. Our Hours are Tuesday – Saturday 10-6, Sunday 1-6, we’re closed on Mondays.
