The Grand Opening of the AT&T Performing Arts Center in October 2009 marked the long-anticipated completion of the $2 billion Dallas Arts District, an idea first conceived more than 25 years ago. In the late 1970s, visionary Dallas leaders foresaw the growing need for new cultural facilities in Dallas. They identified the clear advantage of clustering these venues within a tight geographic area in order to reap maximum economic, educational and cultural benefits for each arts entity and for the city of Dallas. Today, the AT&T Performing Arts Center encompasses 10 acres within the downtown Dallas Arts District. The Center includes the Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House, Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre, Annette Strauss Square and Elaine D. and Charles A. Sammons Park, as well as Lexus Red and Silver underground parking areas.The AT&T PAC presents a variety of programs year-round in its indoor and outdoor performance venues, including the Lexus Broadway Series, Brinker International Forum, JAZZ ROOTS and, in association with TITAS, contemporary dance and music, as well as other touring and community performances. The Center also provides performance space for local performing arts organizations, including The Dallas Opera, Dallas Theater Center, Dallas Black Dance Theatre and Anita N. Martinez.

American Airlines Center was designed by David M. Schwarz/Architectural Services, Inc. and HKS, Inc. Experience nature’s adventure at The Dallas World Aquarium. The facility is home to a unique display of flora and fauna from five continents, 14 countries, three oceans, numerous seas and rivers. The 200-foot Wilds of Borneo Entrance ramp is lined with plants and animals representative of this region of the world for your enjoyment as you enter the complex. The indoor adventure begins at the top of the Orinoco - Secrets of the River rainforest exhibit. The upper levels showcase mixed avian species as they fly freely throughout the vegetation, foraging for food, building nests, caring for their young or preening at the top of the 40-foot waterfall. Mammals, ranging in size from small Vampire bats to large Antillean manatees, share the rainforest with amphibians, reptiles, invertebrates and fish. The Aquarium portion of The Dallas World Aquarium includes marine species from around the world. Adjoining the aquarium are the outdoor South Africa exhibit and the seasonal Madagascar display. The indoor pathway continues at the bottom level of the Mundo Maya exhibit by way of a forty-foot long tunnel through the Cenote filled with sharks and rays. The stone pathway ascends into the upper levels where tiny hummingbirds and large raptors have an up-close encounter with the tall Tree of Life.

Just the name "Neiman Marcus" is enough to make shopaholics across the globe salivate. The words have become synonymous with high fashion and world famous designers. And it all started right here in Dallas with one little store. The first Neiman Marcus was opened in Dallas in 1907 by Herbert Marcus, Sr., his sister Carrie Marcus Neiman and her husband A.L. Neiman. Their intention was simple but ambitious for the time – to fashionably clothe the entire Dallas community. It was located at the corner of Elm and Murphy Streets in downtown Dallas. That building was destroyed by fire in 1913. Undaunted, the family began construction on a new store at the corner of Main and Ervay Streets. The store opened in 1914 and was expanded in 1926 to include the property next door at Commerce and Ervay Streets. This construction was completed in 1927, on the eve of The Great Depression. That same building houses the store today and bears a plaque from the Texas Historical Commission. This piece of Dallas history now boasts 30 Neiman Marcus stores nationwide, as well as a thriving mail order business. Hungry? The downtown "Neiman's" is also home to the NM Cafe and the celebrated Zodiac.

Love Field is fully equipped with all of the necessary aeronautical lighting, airport marking and air navigation radio aids to ensure its accessibility to aircraft even under highly adverse weather conditions. Its long parallel runways are enhanced with state of the art visual approach lighting aids and four instrument landing systems. Love Field also has a crosswind runway. Other features include surveillance radar services, a windshear warning system and an FAA air traffic control tower that provides services 24 hours a day. Seven full service fixed base operators (FBOs) at Love Field provide general aviation users with a wide variety of services including fuel, maintenance, hangar rentals, and charters. FBOs at Love Field are well equipped to handle executive needs providing first class amenities such as meeting rooms, car rentals, limousine service and restaurants. Love Field is served by Southwest Airlines, Continental Express and American Airlines/American Eagle. Love Field serves as the front door to Dallas for seven million passengers a year providing a vital link in the economy of the City of Dallas, the region and the nation.
