Like the splendid city of Florence itself, the Starhotels Michelangelo blends classic style and contemporary elegance. Perfectly connected with the S. Maria Novella station and strategically located near the new Opera Theatre and the Stazione Leopolda convention centre, guests will feel at home in the heart of Florence. The furnishings of its 119 rooms draw inspiration from typical Italian design, combining a chic, modern style with the maximum comfort. The Assaggi restaurant offers the finest traditional Tuscan dishes, prepared with selected ingredients, while the welcoming bar is the ideal place to relax and enjoy a drink. The 7 meeting rooms can host up to 230 people and are equipped with cutting edge technology. They are ideal venues for holding business meetings and private events, skilfully organised by a team of expert professionals. A total of 119 rooms and suites: 45 Superior Rooms, 40 Deluxe Rooms, 6 Deluxe Rooms with View, 8 Junior Suites, 3 Junior Suites with View, 2 Suites, 1 Suite with Balcony/Terrace, 5 Family Rooms, and 9 Triple Rooms. The hotel offers a total of 100 twin rooms, including 31 Superior Rooms, 53 Deluxe Rooms, 14 Junior Suites, and 2 Suites. SPECIALTY OF THE DAY - To make your event even tastier ✔ 1 complimentary double room for single use B/B for every 10 confirmed (max 2) ✔ Free luggage storage ✔ Upgrade to higher room category* ✔ Early check-in or late check-out*, subject to availability *max 10% of the allotment T&C Rates are valid for groups/events of minimum 10 rooms and the discount is calculated on the best available rate of the day. Discounts relating to promotional periods cannot be combined Rates include a full buffet breakfast and 10% VAT The city tax is excluded. The rates indicated in the estimate do not include the discretionary contribution of 5% in favor of the employee, applicable to room rates or room and meeting room rates. Rates are reserved for a limited room quota and will be reconfirmed based on the booking/request order. Once the quota is exhausted, we will offer the best conditions available at the time of the request. The promotion is not valid during fairs, conferences and city events or for events already confirmed and contracted.

Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral

Florence's cathedral stands tall over the city with its magnificent Renaissance dome designed by Filippo Brunelleschi. The cathedral named in honor of Santa Maria del Fiore is a vast Gothic structure built on the site of the 7th century church of Santa Reparata, the remains of which can be seen in the crypt. The cathedral was begun at the end of the 13th century by Arnolfo di Cambio, and the dome, which dominates the exterior, was added in the 15th century on a design of Filippo Brunelleschi. A statue to each of these important architects can be found outside to the right of the cathedral, both admiring their work for the rest of eternity. Can you imagine it took two centuries for the cathedral to be deemed finished? The church was consecrated as soon as the dome was in place although the façade (front of the church) was only half finished by then. It was just decoration, and thus remained unfinished up until the 19th century. At that point, it was actually redone by the likes of the time and finally finished! The exterior is covered in a decorative mix of pink, white and green marble. The interior, by contrast, is pretty stark and plain but quite enjoyable on warm summer days since the temperature inside tends to be cooler. The mosaic pavements are certainly its main attraction within.

This is one of the most famous museums of paintings and sculpture in the world. Its collection of Primitive and Renaissance paintings comprises several universally acclaimed masterpieces of all time, including works by Giotto, Simone Martini, Piero della Francesca, Fra Angelico, Filippo Lippi, … MoreBotticelli, Mantegna, Correggio, Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Michelangelo and Caravaggio. German, Dutch and Flemish masters are also well represented with important works by Dürer, Rembrandt and Rubens. The Uffizi Gallery occupies the top floor of the large building erected by Giorgio Vasari between 1560 and 1580 to house the administrative offices of the Tuscan State. The Gallery was created by Grand-duke Francesco I and subsequently enriched by various members of the Medici family, who were great collectors of paintings, sculpture and works of art. The collection was rearranged and enlarged by the Lorraine Grand-dukes, who succeeded the Medici, and finally by the Italian State. The Uffizi buildings also house other important collections: the Contini Bonacossi Collection and the Collection of Prints and Drawings (Gabinetto Disegni e Stampe degli Uffizi). The Vasari Corridor, the raised passageway connecting the Uffizi with the Pitti Palace, was built by Vasari in 1565. It is hung with an important collection of 17th-century paintings and the famous collection of artists’ Self-portraits.
