The museum at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center® is the showcase of the American space program. It contains an actual Apollo spacecraft returned from a Moon mission as well as spacesuits and equipment astronauts used while preparing for missions. Take a virtual journey inside our motion-based simulator, or experience three times the pull of gravity as you spin inside the Centrifuge. In the Center’s Rocket Park, your group will marvel at the 363-foot Saturn V moon rocket, the only one standing in the world! You can stand under an actual-sized Space Shuttle for a close-up look at its rockets and engines developed in Huntsville. The Spacedome IMAX® Theater, adjacent to the museum lobby, features shows daily on a 67-foot screen.

The South's Premier Brewery & Entertainment Venue From our landmark location in the heart of the city, Campus No. 805 has become the connecting point for the resurging West Huntsville neighborhoods and the treasured historic districts and the hundreds of exciting new loft residences in downtown. Transformed as the Stone Event Center, the refurbished school building offers a variety of multi-use space for private rentals and it has become a popular event venue for young professionals and the hospitality industry. The Stone Center building and the new 16,000 square foot Student Union has attracted a growing list of tenants to include craft breweries, restaurants, catering, bars, retail and entertainment venues. The Huntsville Botanical Garden is a beautiful 120-acre site with stunning floral collections, inviting woodland paths, broad grassy meadows, aquatic areas, demonstration vegetable and herb gardens and the Nature Center. The two-acre Children’s Garden is adjacent to the Nature Center. Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment is the largest privately owned arts facility in the United States. With a focus on visual arts, this huge historic factory building has been redeveloped into 148 working studios for over 200 artists and makers, 6 fine art galleries, a multi-use theatre, and performance venues. Within this thriving creative community are artists and makers from across the world. The Mill serves as a space where they can create, learn, and collaborate. With studio spaces lining the hallways, visitors have the opportunity to openly explore the Mill and artist spaces where they can shop and learn about the artists and their works. In addition to working artists, Lowe Mill is home to several of North Alabama’s premiere entertainment including Concerts on the Dock, the world’s longest running Cigar Box Guitar Festival, and more. In the heart of Huntsville, Alabama, atop Round Top Mountain, lies Burritt on the Mountain, an important piece of Alabama’s history. Situated on a magnificent 167-acre site overlooking the city, we encourage visitors to explore the natural beauty of Round Top Mountain, learn about its ecology, revisit the lives of farmers from the 1800s, and tour the Burritt Mansion. For over 60 years Burritt has been an attraction that everyone can enjoy. The site is home to Dr. William Henry Burritt’s unique 1938 mansion. Learn the story of Dr. Burritt and his three wives, his penchant for goat’s milk, and how his vocation of homeopathic medicine led him to build one of the city’s most unique and eccentric homes. The Historic Park consists of 6 authentic 19th century homes typical of life in the Cumberland Plateau, along with a blacksmith shop and assorted outbuildings. Interpreters in authentic period dress are on hand to answer questions, give tours, and demonstrate life as it was on a farm during the 1800s. At the heart of the Historic Park is The McCurdy Barnyard, home to a variety of authentic farm animals that educate young and old about the animals’ purpose on a farm. The Nature Trails at Burritt are perfect for hiking to enjoy the wide variety of wildflowers in spring or the colorful mountain foliage in fall. Burritt’s trails circle around Round Top Mountain and connect to the LandTrust of Madison County and Monte Sano State Park. Geocachers come from around the world to explore the mountain and find our cache. Our nature trails are also listed on the Huntsville/Madison County Birding Trail.

Built in 1819, the house at 300 Gates Avenue is now open to the public as the Weeden House Museum and Garden. Dr. William Weeden bought the house in 1845 and his descendants owned it until 1956. Now owned by the City of Huntsville, it is maintained as a 19th century house museum. Earlier residents included John McKinley who lived in the house from 1824-1827, prior to serving as an Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. Banker-planter Bartley M. Lowe, first president of Huntsville Bank, lived in the house, and his portrait painted by John Grimes hangs in the house today. The Weeden family lived in the house from 1845-1956, except for during the Federal occupation of Huntsville during the Civil War when the home served as the living quarters of Federal officers. Maria Howard Weeden possessed the rare ability to record its essence for others to enjoy. The paintings and poems that fill the pages of her four published books (1898-1904) bear plentiful evidence of this talent. Not only was she able to picture the beauty of the daintiest wild flower or the most luscious rose, but to an even greater degree her pen and brush could capture and distill beauty of character in the portrait of an individual - most notably, African Americans who resided in Huntsville at the turn of the 20th century. Howard was born in the house in July 1846, and resided here until her death in 1905.

The Huntsville Museum of Art, North Alabama’s leading visual arts center, moved to its beautiful facility in Big Spring International Park in March 1998. Since that time, the nationally-accredited Museum has filled its galleries with a variety of exhibitions throughout the year, including prestigious traveling exhibits and the work of nationally and regionally acclaimed artists. The Museum’s own permanent collection includes more than 3,000 objects and also forms the basis for several exhibitions each year. In addition, the Museum offers rental areas on the Plaza Level, Gallery Level and in The Great Hall for weddings, meetings and other events. Visitors may also shop for local art, jewelry, handmade items and much more in The Museum Store. In addition to its exhibitions, the Museum offers art classes for children and adults along with special programs, lectures, and musical presentations that add extra dimensions to the art work on display.

Alabama Constitution Village Alabama's birthplace - 1819. Explore Alabama's rich history and become a part of the 19th century as villagers dressed in period clothing take you through eight reconstructed Federal style buildings. Visit the actual site where forty-four delegates gathered to forge the way for Alabama's Statehood. The museum will be closed for renovation June - September 2017 and January - March 2018.

Hear stories from the Talking Tree, play a tune on the giant-sized instruments at the Alabama bandstand and try your hand at building in the Kidstruction Zone. Explore a 46-foot Keelboat, trade your wares at the General Store and try on 1800's clothing in the federal house. Pre-schoolers will enjoy exploring Biscuit's Backyard, a touch-and-learn area designed especially for them, which includes a garden, grocery store, water table and even karaoke!

Harrison Brothers Hardware started as a family-owned business founded by brothers James B. and Daniel T. Harrison, and their store has operated on the courthouse square since 1897. Like a cherished family heirloom, the business was passed down from generation to generation. The death of James in 1908 brought younger brother Robert into the family business. As Daniel and Robert grew older and passed away, Robert’s sons Daniel and John took over and kept the store running through 1983. It seemed certain that the death of John Harrison in 1983 would be the end of the family business, but the Historic Huntsville Foundation stepped in and purchased the store from Harrison family heirs. HHF wanted to preserve and continue the operation of Harrison Brothers Hardware, so the store, its traditions and the names of its founders would live on. Today, Harrison Brothers Hardware is a store unlike any other you will visit. The store retains its original appearance, and all the counters, display shelves, wood floors and fixtures are all intact. Sales are still rung up on the 1907 National Cash Register first used by James and Daniel. The brothers’ business desk, safe, and coal stove are still there–just about the way they left them. Original advertising posters, receipts and ledgers, vintage photographs and Harrison family mementos are displayed throughout the store. We carry some of the same types of merchandise sold by James and Daniel, including pottery, cast iron cookware and gardening tools. Our goal is to ensure that Harrison Brothers Hardware merchandise embodies “American made” at its finest. Harrison Brothers Hardware is not a trip to the mall. Welcome to the official site of the U.S. Veterans Memorial Museum - where every day is Veterans Day. Located in Huntsville Alabama, this is one of the premier military museums in the country. The exhibits of memorabilia, artifacts, and military equipment range from the American Revolutionary War to present day. Included in the collection are many rare and important artifacts including the oldest surviving jeep: the Ford Pygmy.
