The Maiden’s Tower is located 150-200 meters off the shore of the Salacak district in Üsküdar. The definite construction date is unknown, while the tower’s architectural style indicates it to be from around 340 BCE. The Maiden’s Tower has been used for many different purposes over time, such as a tax collection area, a defense tower, and a lighthouse. Today, it functions as a tourist attraction and restaurant.

Built between 1609- 1616, this imperial mosque is an example of classical Turkish architecture, and it is the only mosque that was originally built with six minarets. Although it is popularly known as the Blue Mosque, its real name is Sultanahmet Mosque. Befitting his original profession, its architect Mehmet Aga, a student of Sinan, the greatest architect of classical Turkish architecture, decorated the interior fastidiously like a jeweler, with blue Iznik tiles used on all walls. The Blue Mosque is closed to public viewing for 30 minutes during prayers five times a day.

After the conquest of Istanbul by Mehmed the Conqueror at 1453, construction of the Topkapı Palace was started at the year 1460 and completed at 1478 . Palace was built upon a 700.000 square meters area on an Eastern Roman Acropolis located at the Istanbul Peninsula between Sea of Marmara, Bosphorus and the Golden Horn. Topkapı Palace, was the administrative, educational and art center of the Empire for nearly four hundred years since Mehmed the Conqueror until Sultan Abdulmecid who is the thirty-first Sultan.
