Wailua Golf Course offers classic, golden-era seaside golf holes a mere few steps from the Pacific Ocean and is an excellent, walkable layout on Kauai. First built as a 9-hole golf course in the 1930’s, and expanded to 18 holes in 1961, Wailua has hosted 3 USGA Amateur and 3 US Public Links Championships. Regarded as one of the top municipal courses in the country the course was designed by Toyo Shirai and is highlighted by stunning mountain views along the Coconut Coast, and multiple ocean holes – all of which combine for a great golf experience at Wailua.

Cascading down into a hidden pool, this 151-foot-tall, 40-foot-wide waterfall is easily one of the island's most accessible major waterfalls. Located on the East Side about two miles up Kuamoʻo Road (Route 580) from Hwy. 56, signs clearly point to the roadside lookout on the right. This convenient stop offers visitors a great view from a scenic lookout and access to picnic tables and restrooms. "ʻŌpaekaʻa" means "rolling shrimp," which were once abundant in the stream. Walk uphill from the ʻŌpaekaʻa lookout and across the road for another great view of the Wailua River valley and interior plains beyond.
