A unique city hotel & Grand Café located in the old Leeuwarden Post Office. We are unique, one of a kind, a special Grand Café & Hotel with its own identity and character. Post-Plaza cannot be copied, we have a story to tell. We are obviously biased, but you really should experience it!

The 18th-century city palace of Maria Louise van Hessen-Kassel, Princess of Orange Nassau, ancestor to King Willem-Alexander, is located at the heart of Leeuwarden’s historic city centre. This building houses the Princessehof National Museum of Ceramics. In 1898 Maurits Cornelis Escher, affectionately nicknamed ‘Mauk’, was born there.
The finest ceramics collected in The Princessehof National Museum of Ceramics. The museum has the largest and most varied collection of Chinese porcelain in the Netherlands and has a rich collection of the Dutch Art Nouveau and Art Deco ceramics from the period 1880-1930. Our collections of Chinese Imperial porcelain, magnificent Art Nouveau and iconic Delft Blue objects, and works by artists such as Picasso, show that ceramics are of all times and of all ages. In addition to the permanent exhibition From East and West the museum has a lively programme of varying, much talked-about exhibitions.

Located in Leeuwarden, capital of the Dutch province of Friesland (Fryslân), the Fries Museum has a rich history spanning almost 190 years. In 2013, it moved into the first newly constructed Dutch museum building of the 21st century. As the main repository of Friesland’s material heritage, it is recognised internationally for key aspects of its collection. These include spectacular treasures excavated from ancient Frisian mounds, 17th- and 18th-century Frisian silverware, and works by the 19th-century painter Lawrence Alma-Tadema, who was born near Leeuwarden. Also housed here is the Hindeloopen room that became an international icon of northern European identity at Paris’s Great Exhibition of 1878, as well as items highlighting the legacy of Mata Hari, who was born in Leeuwarden. Museum visitors can admire works by Old Master painters and 20th-century Frisian artists such as Gerrit Benner, and also Dutch and international contemporary art and design. Through these objects, the Fries Museum tells stories about Friesland’s eleven cities and the countryside, the love-hate relationship that Frisians have with water, and the quest to define Frisian culture and Friesland’s position in the world.

Simple And Fun
Each Tourist Scavenger Hunt is around 40 steps, 2-3 hours in duration on a 3-4km circuit which brings you back to the start.

Enormously unique! A hotel & Grand Café where they roast their own coffee. Post-Plaza is the only one in all of Europe. After a lot of testing and tasting, we now have our very own Post-Plaza coffee. Roastmaster Jesse is responsible for the roasting process and he makes sure every cup has the same exquisite taste. The advantage of roasting our own coffee is that we get a very tight control of the coffee's quality, which we keep consistently high. Walk by our coffee roaster on the mezzanine in the Grand Café. Maybe Jesse is available, he loves sharing his passion. Jesse roasts more than 2000 kilo of coffee beans a year. Not just for Post-Plaza but for other hotels and our web shop. Besides our coffees, you can also buy Post-Plaza sparkling wine, cutting boards and traditional Dutch candies in the Post-Plaza store.
