MalaMala Game Reserve is the Safari Industry's blueprint to the luxury photographic safari. In existence since 1927, this massive thriving tract of land produces the most exciting wildlife experience this side of the equator. It is the largest private Big Five game reserve in South Africa. Comprising 13 300 ha (33 000 acres), MalaMala shares a 19 km (12 mile) unfenced border with the world-renowned Kruger National Park, and lies strategically sandwiched between the National Park and the Sabi Sand Reserve. MalaMala's Camps (MalaMala Main Camp, Sable Camp and Rattray's on MalaMala) are the embodiment of an authentic safari experience pioneered at a time when the safari was simple - unassuming camps, vast sweeping plains, the African sky and the bush in all its splendor. Wellness was the feeling after a long day in the wild. Cigars were shared without pomp and ceremony. Three camps offer accommodation to the family traveler, or to the client who prefers a more exclusive experience. MalaMala Main Camp (18 rooms) and Sable Camp (7 suites) are clustered among shady trees and manicured lawns, while the exclusive Rattray's on MalaMala (8 khayas) occupies its own elevated site overlooking the Sand River. In addition, MalaMala offers a unique destination from which to exchange vows – one that will never be forgotten. For the couple who seeks an intimate destination, without “frills” but with a heart of warm African hospitality, beautiful sunsets, panoramic views and beautiful accommodation – It is the perfect place for romance.
