Ħal Saflieni Hypogeum

A World Heritage Site since 1980, the Ħal Saflieni Hypogeum is a unique prehistoric monument which bears unique testimony to a civilization which has disappeared. The site was discovered during the building of new houses in Paola at the turn of the century, and was reported to the authorities in 1902. Containing evidence from around 4100 B.C. to 2500 B.C., the Hypogeum consists of a series of rock-cut chambers set on three different levels. The Upper Level, which is also the earliest to be created, may have had a monumental structure marking its entrance but its extent is unknown. The Middle Level houses the most elaborate chambers where, albeit with only the use of stone and bone tools, work of extremely high quality and skill is evident. The chambers are similar to those of above-ground megalithic structures and the walls and ceilings of some of them are painted with designs in red ochre, giving the visitor a different, though familiar, view of the internal spaces of a prehistoric structure. The preservation of these paintings has presented one of the biggest challenges to the site’s managers over the years. This remains, to this day, the site’s main conservation concern.

Esplora is a unique visitor attraction, offering a very enjoyable experience that will make science more appealing and fun for everyone. Popeye Village

Malta National Aquarium

The Malta National Aquarium has been designed to replicate a number of scenic terrestrial and underwater locations in Malta including the Blue Grotto, the Grand Harbour and also other areas in Gozo and Comino. The displays are cleverly themed to tell a story of cultural and conservational importance related to the Maltese Islands, whilst the animals filling the displays are from native, cold water, and tropical marine as well as freshwater ecosystems.
The main tank of the aquarium houses species from all over the world, including a variety of sharks, rays and coral reef species. This tank is approximately 12 metres in diameter and allows visitors to go through a water tunnel thereby experiencing the fish at a much closer range.
The Aquarium is currently undertaking a number of projects related to cat shark and skate development of local species, as well as spreading awareness about local marine research and conservation.

MUŻA

MUŻA is Malta’s National Community Art Museum. The Maltese word ‘MUŻA’ signifies ‘inspiration’ and is an acronym for the Maltese title, MUŻ(ew Nazzjonali tal-)A(rti), whilst also acting as a reference to the mythological muses. All works of art on display were selected on the basis of four main stories: Mediterranean, Europe, Empire and The Artist.
Temporary exhibitions and events in the Camerone, Community Space, Corridors and Courtyard complete the MUŻA experience.
Visitors may also enjoy a break at the MUŻA Restaurant, offering art-inspired refreshments.
MUŻA is housed at the Auberge d’Italie, the former base of the Italian Knights of the Order of St John. Completed by 1629, it served many functions over time, including being the seat of the Valletta Museum from 1925 where the first Fine Arts Section was set up. Following post-WWII repairs, the Auberge d’Italie housed several government institutions until in 2018 it was inaugurated as MUŻA.

Fort St Elmo- National War Museum

Hosted by Fort St Elmo, the National War Museum houses a superb collection of items which takes us back to prehistoric times. Artefacts are displayed in chronological order, commencing from the early phases of the Bronze Age around 2,500 B.C. Two halls are dedicated to Malta’s important role in WW I, the Inter-War Period and Malta’s historical role in the Second World War. Displayed in these halls one can find perhaps the three most important icons of this museum: the Gloster Sea Gladiator N5520 FAITH, Roosevelt’s Jeep ‘Husky’ and Malta award for gallantry, the George Cross. Concluding the walk through Malta’s military role in history are displays dedicated to Malta’s Independence, becoming a Republic, Freedom Day and Malta joining the European Union.

Ħaġar Qim & Mnajdra Temples

The temple of Ħaġar Qim stands on a hilltop overlooking the sea and the islet of Filfla, not more than 2km south-west of the village of Qrendi. At the bottom of the hill, only 500m away, lies another remarkable temple site, Mnajdra found above the southern cliffs. The surrounding landscape is typical Mediterranean garigue and spectacular in its starkness and isolation. The visit of Ħaġar Qim & Mnajdra Temples is spread between the visitor centre which houses the ticketing, reception, shop and exhibition areas and a small 4D theatre. The visitor centre is 110m away from Ħaġar Qim whilst the two temples are then 500m apart from each other.

Casa Rocca Piccola
Casa Rocca Piccola was built in the 16th Century for Don Pietro La Rocca, a Knight of Malta, and is now the family ancestral home of the 9th Marquis de Piro and his family.
Often described as a ‘living museum’, Casa Rocca Piccola is the only privately owned Palazzo open to the public in Valletta and has a fascinating variety of different things to see which come to life on entertaining guided tours.
At Casa Rocca Piccola, you will also get to see a network of underground passages and tunnels cut out of the rock over its 400 year history which were used during World War II to protect hundreds of people from enemy bombing.

As a solo artist, Kevin was the featured entertainer at UC San Diego’s commencement ceremony in front of 7000 people, and has played The Aventine La Jolla, Mission Bay Yacht Club, The Thursday Club, Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar, Bernardo Winery, University Club, Kona Kai Resort, Cafe 21, The Prado in Balboa Park, Tipsy Crow, Mesa College Art Gallery, Del Mar Fair,Liberty Station, and Coronado Landing. Kevin was a standout alto saxophonist in elementary and middle school, then switched to tenor sax as an adult. Inspired by BB King’s killer horn section, Kevin began honing his skills playing the blues. He still loves rock and pop music and enjoys covering crowd favorites on his sax, all while pushing the limits of audience engagement, building epic solos, and creating the ultimate show.
