Famous for its slogan "Where the Surf Meets the Turf" the Del Mar Racetrack is an American Thoroughbred horse racing track located at the Del Mar Fairgrounds and just minutes from Del Mar Marriott hotel. The track has a one-mile main dirt track and a seven furlong turf course. The track opens in July and runs through September each year. It was built by a partnership including Bing Crosby, the actor Pat O'Brien and Jimmy Durante and is known for its tan stucco grandstand located directly on the Pacific Ocean.
