Visalia's state-of-the-art museum at Mooney Grove Park serves to showcase our county's rich history of farm labor and agriculture. Take a journey through time and experience the cultural heritage of the people who farmed the Valley during the past half-Millennia, beginning with the Native American experience, the influx of Mexicans during the pre-statehood era, and Asian migration during the Gold Rush era. Exhibits under development will also document the arrival of the Armenians, Dutch and Portuguese, the local settlement of former Buffalo Soldiers and their families, post-Civil War in Allensworth, the Dust Bowl migrations of the teens, and Great Depression era, and much more!
By inspiring children through interactive educational experiences, ImagineU provides multicultural hands-on learning through the sciences, environmental conservation, and the arts. This 10 acre organic blueberry farm and boutique event venue is located on the North banks of the Kaweah River just South of Woodlake, California. With over 15,000 square feet of green grass and a five-acre blueberry field there is space for everyone to relax and enjoy some time in the countryside. Grown at Big L Ranch are five varieties of Southern Highbush blueberries using all organic soil nutrition from local suppliers. U-pick harvest season begins in early May and runs through late June. Also located on the property is The Banks, a private beach located on the gorgeous Kaweah River. Here visitors can rent canoes, kayaks, stand up paddle boards, cabanas and even reserve it for private events.

Learn about the agricultural industry with a visit to Rosa Brothers Dairy Farms for tours of their dairy facilities and be introduced to the world of milk production. You will take a tour around the farm in our Moo-Mobile (tour bus) and see the sights and sounds of a working dairy farm. The World Surf League's Surf Ranch is the first artificial wave pool of its kind, created by Kelly Slater and his team at the Kelly Slater Wave Company. The 2,000-foot long, 500-foot wide basin took nearly a decade to perfect and is the best mechanically produced wave in the world. Surf Ranch, started by Slater and owned by the World Surf League, includes a massive, sustainably powered wave basin. The wave is the world’s longest rippable, open-barrel man-made wave and something that needs to be seen to be believed. The system can generate various waves, from beginner waves to high-performance waves.
Astronomy is the oldest of the sciences and the one which has held the strongest grip on our imagination over the centuries. The modern era of space telescopes and sophisticated space probes has brought with it a great expansion of our cosmic horizons and many surprising changes in our understanding of the universe. The planetarium provides students with the opportunity to explore the wonders of the universe in an exciting and stimulating manner. Visitors will take imaginary, but realistic, trips through our solar system, as well as explore a variety of other astronomy-related topics. The Peña Planetarium features a 30-foot Spitz dome screen and a new full-dome, high definition, digital projection system. The Peña Planetarium has a seating capacity of 70.
This beautiful facility gives visitors the opportunity to explore their collection of Chinese relics and antiques as well as their traditional garden patio. This 322-acre preserve protects one of the last remaining Valley Oak riparian forests in California. Visitors can enter a timeless oasis that showcases what this region looked like more than 200 years ago---when Valley Oaks carpeted the length of the Central Valley. Take a trail hike and see rare native plant species, local birds, and other wildlife. Four self-guided nature paths allow sightseers to explore a simpler time, and experience the sights and sounds that greeted Native Americans and early settlers when they came to this area.
Homer Ranch protects 1,819 acres of working landscape along a mile stretch of beautiful Dry Creek in Lemon Cove, just northeast of Woodlake. The ranch is home to a significant portion of one of the largest, healthiest and last remaining sycamore alluvial woodlands in the world and extensive blue oak woodlands. These woodlands play an important role in the large, interdependent natural communities that sustain the Sierra Nevada foothills. Serving as a critical wildlife corridor for a variety of species such as resident and migratory birds, mule deer and mountain lion, the ranch provides an important link between Dry Creek and conserved land to the northeast.

Young Bravo Cheddar is aged for 90 days, giving it a creamy and mild flavor. The Premium Cheddar, aged up to and beyond two years, is sharp and tangy. Other cheese styles can be found with names such as Tulare Cannonball, Western Sage Cheddar, Silver Mountain, Original Chipotle and Dutch Jake.
Dry Creek Preserve is a 152-acre former gravel quarry located just northwest of Lemon Cove.
This special nature preserve, now fully restored, is the first example of an ecologically-based aggregate mine reclamation in Tulare County. It is also home to SRT’s native plant nursery.
The combination of biological and environmental conditions that give rise to the sycamore alluvial woodland community occurs only rarely. Thus, while the California sycamore is not an uncommon species, the sycamore alluvial woodland is only found in just 17 stands scattered across central California. The community at Dry Creek is of particular conservation value, ranked third in size and health of all the remaining stands.

Founded in 1993 with the purchase of 100 scenic acres just west of King’s Canyon National Park, the Cat Haven offers guided tours of some of the rarest cats in the world. The exhibits are spaced at intervals along a pathway which winds beneath oaks and manzanita, giving visitors a sense of discovery as they walk up to each exhibit. Bobcats, Leopards, tigers, cheetahs, jaguars, lions, caracals, and much more await guests who tour Cat Haven. College of the Sequoias is a two-year California community college offering educational and enrichment programs for the residents of its district in Tulare and Kings counties. The college was established in 1926 and moved to its current 62-acre main campus in Visalia in 1940. In addition to the campus in Visalia, COS operates a full-service center in Hanford that is also home to the college's police and fire academies. The Sequoias District opened The Tulare College Center in January 2013. It is a full-service college center and the home of COS' agriculture programs.
The Visalia Campus is a direct extension of Fresno Pacific University's main campus. The 35,000 square foot campus has classrooms equipped with the latest in technology and is set up in a way that encourages an open and interactive atmosphere. The campus offers accelerated bachelor's degree completion programs as well as master's degrees and credentials. All courses are offered in the evening and are taught by experienced faculty.
