Mondrian Los Angeles Unveils Bold $19 Million Redesign—A Wonderland Reimagined Perched high above the Sunset Strip, the iconic Mondrian Los Angeles emerges from a stunning $19 million renovation, revealing an inspired transformation that redefines modern luxury. The newly reimagined hotel features 236 redesigned guest rooms, including the dazzling Skyview Loft and Penthouse, along with a completely revamped lobby and meeting spaces. Guests are invited into a world where fantasy meets Hollywood glamour—an enchanted haven of unparalleled wonder and infinite possibility. Inside, expect a dreamlike escape where reality bends, comfort reigns, and every detail evokes magic and mystery. A Whimsical Rebirth: Through the Looking Glass and Into LaLa Land The redesign draws inspiration from the surreal world of Alice in Wonderland and the timeless charm of LaLa Land, fusing whimsy and nostalgia with upscale contemporary design. Guests are welcomed into light-filled rooms featuring floor-to-ceiling windows, marble-accented bathrooms, and room service—a luxurious retreat both fantastical and familiar. The color palette evokes the sun-kissed skies of Los Angeles, with soft blues and glowing light fixtures reminiscent of paparazzi flashbulbs, making every guest feel like a star. As they enter, guests will discover a surreal art installation of a cosmopolitan woman falling through space—an homage to Alice’s descent into Wonderland. Touches of whimsy unfold throughout: rabbit ear-inspired lighting, checkerboard floors, dragonfly-wing mirrored art, and a mushroom-shaped side chair and ottoman that whisper of Wonderland gardens. The Capellini teapot chair, imported from Milan, gives a nod to the Mad Hatter’s tea party, while a regal aubergine chair salutes the hotel’s original designer, Philippe Starck.
