Once upon a time in 2016, Matt Levy, founder of Covert Cocktail Club, hosted a secret speakeasy as an intimate place for strangers to gather in his home. The only way to find out about it was via word of mouth. No address was given, the only clue being a sign placed in the window, “Cocktails Here”. A lot of people thought it was pretty cool, even before The New York Times wrote about it. But that was all pre-pandemic, and this is a new era. The special event calendar at Oglebay is filled with exciting upcoming events. SpringFest is in April when the tulips, hyacinths and daffodils are in bloom. This show, along with the area’s premier fall festival, Oglebayfest, features artisans displaying and selling their unique wares plus entertainment and festival foods. One of America's largest light shows, the Winter Festival of Lights, dazzles visitors of all ages during the holiday season. This six-mile driving show features a million lights displayed over 300 acres. Special packages are available at Wilson Lodge during most of these events. Whether you want to savor a fine dining experience, dine in a more informal setting, or just enjoy a casual lunch while rehashing your recent game of golf, Oglebay provides the dining experience that’s right for you.
