About us

Nestled above the Pacific Ocean in the foothills of the Santa Barbara Mountains, El Encanto, Santa Barbara, invites you to unwind and draw inspiration from this vivid sensory oasis. Seven acres of rolling scenery surround you with exquisite flora, citrus aromas, and an endless panorama of ocean and mountains. Californian palms and magnificently landscaped gardens attract an immersive kaleidoscope of birds and butterflies that dance and enchant with their vital beauty. With its origins as a Hollywood escape, today El Encanto finds a new harmony with creative California, through fascinating cuisine, bold modern art, stirring literature and uplifting wellness experiences. El Encanto’s perfectly private yet neighborly environment is felt at every moment of the day. When staying in El Encanto’s architecturally historic Craftsman and Spanish revival cottages, one views and experiences an illuminating, esoteric side of California, connected by a remarkable array of sights and sounds, scents, touches and tastes. Features a zero-edge saltwater outdoor pool with views overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The Spa at El Encanto offers a range of treatments for those looking for a relaxing experience. We offer a courtesy shuttle to destination sites within a 5-mile radius including State Street, which features cultural and historical attractions. Located 90 minutes from Los Angeles International Airport, it has proven itself a relaxing retreat for locals and guests alike. There are almost 200 wineries, vineyards and tasting rooms in Santa Barbara County. The Dining Room and Terrace serves coastal California cuisine with a sweeping views down the American Riviera to the Pacific Ocean.

Since 1850 this site has been the home of local government and a place of civic pride and celebration. Visitors from around the world come to see the courthouse, mural room or grounds; and hundreds get married in the Mural Room or in the Garden every year. The County Board of Supervisors caused the construction of this, now historic courthouse in 1926, after the smaller Greek-Revival courthouse was damaged in an earthquake of the previous year. The building was dedicated on August 14, 1929 with a ceremonial setting of the bronze medallion provided by the Native Sons of Golden West, with the mixing of the ingredients of water from each of the California Missions; with sand and gravel from each of the counties in California; and cement from local sources; all on the main stage with a packed crowd of residents and visitors looking on during the 1929 celebration of Old Spanish Days.
