Built around the year 700, Lost City consists of more than 500 terraces 45 meters long and 18 meters wide. There are seven-metre-high containment walls. Approximately 1000 houses formed the city. Members of the Kogui, Wiwa, Arhuaco and Kankuamo peoples, direct descendants of the ancient Tayronas, call this place Teyuna and have stated that they visited the site regularly before it was widely discovered, but had kept silence about it. It is believed to be the heart of a network of villages inhabited by the Tayrona, being the most important political, economic, religious and spiritual center of the region.
