Den Gamle By/Die Altstadt ist ein nationales Freilichtmuseum für Stadtgeschichte und Kultur in Dänemark über drei Jahrhunderte.
Neben den historischen Häusern und den Wohnungen im Abschnitt von 1974 gibt es mehr als 34 Werkstätten und Geschäfte sowie eine Apotheke, eine Schule, ein Postamt, eine Telefonzentrale, eine Jazzbar und vieles mehr. Darüber hinaus verfügt das Museum über ein eigenes Theater, das Elsinore Theatre, das für Opern, Kammerkonzerte, Festivals usw. genutzt wird.
