Originally named Mission San Antonio de Valero, the Alamo served as home to missionaries and their Indian converts for nearly seventy years. Construction began on the present site in 1724. In 1793, Spanish officials secularized San Antonio's five missions and distributed their lands to remaining Indian residents. These men and women continued to farm the fields, once the mission's but now their own, and participated in the growing community of San Antonio.

San Fernando Cathedral was founded in 1731 and is the oldest, continuously functioning religious community in the State of Texas. San Fernando serves as a refuge for many of the poor in this area who come for help and trust their needs will be met. As the first church in the city, San Fernando has a rich history of responding to the people's needs in and around the church.

Overnight valet parking allows for in and out access. May be higher during special events. Garage entrance located on Commerce Street (1/2 block past St. Mary's on the left). Due to limited parking in the area, only one car per room is allowed. Additional cars can be accommodated at nearby off-site parking garages. No oversized vehicles or dually trucks; garage clearance 7ft. Tour buses must have a permit from the city to park. Please contact (210) 207-7755 for bus parking options.
