Guests may fly to Honolulu and connect on a 20 minute inter-island flight on Lanai Air (www.lanaiair.com. Lanai Airport (LNY) is approximately 9 miles, 20 minutes from the Resort. For those coming from Maui, guests may take a short flight on Mokulele Airlines from Kahului, Maui or take a 70 minute ferry from Maalaea, Maui.

Sporting Clays Sporting clays is a form of clay pigeon shooting, often described as “golf with a shotgun” because a typical course includes 10 to 15 different shooting stations laid out over natural terrain. Lana’i Archery and Shooting Range offers 14 different stations where sporting clays are launched to simulate flight patterns of duck, quail, dove, pheasant and even rabbit running patters. Compak Sporting (5 Stand) Compak sporting is a shooting activity based on sporting clays, it’s often called a 5 stand or mini sporting clays which features 5 shooting stations. It’s set in small area so shooters are not travelling far between stations. Lana’i Archery and Shooting Range compak sporting has 8 targets simulating flight patterns of different game birds as well as running rabbit pattern. Skeet Skeet is one of the three major disciplines of competitive clay pigeon shooting. It’s a shooting sport featuring targets thrown from fixed location called a “high house” and a “low house”. Nine shooting station offers a variety of angles to test shooter skills. A round of skeet is 25 shots, guests can shoot up to 4 rounds in an hour. Archery Range Lana’i Archery and Shooting Range features traditional targets along with 3D targets. The 8- station range offers the excitement and challenge of archery at its best. Anyone who can safely handle and draw a light bow will enjoy this medieval sport. Target set up ranges from 5 to 25-yards depending on your skill.

Horseback Riding

Escape into the hills surrounding Koele, once the center of ranching operations on the island. The trail leads the rider up through guava groves and patches of Ironwood trees. Glimpses of axis deer, quail, wild turkey, and cattle, add to the spectacular views of Lāna‘i City and the dryland forest of Kanepu`u. The ride progresses at a leisurely pace, but previous riding experience is recommended.

Manele Golf

High above the crashing surf of Hulopo‘e Bay, Manele Golf is an outstanding course that more than lives up to its name. Built on lava outcroppings, the course features three holes on cliffs which use the Pacific Ocean as a water hazard. The five-tee concept challenges the best golfers – tee shots over natural gorges and ravines must be precise. This dramatic, unspoiled natural terrain is a stunning backdrop, and every hole offers majestic ocean views, overlooking Maui and Kaho'olawe. During the winter, you may even catch spectacular sightings of whales, right from the fairways.

Petroglyphs at Shipwreck Beach

Petroglyphs are ancient drawings depicting people, animals and other objects, painstakingly carved onto rocks or old lava flows. Their exact meaning has always remained a mystery. While they can be found throughout Hawaii, one spot to view them is located near Shipwreck Beach. Here you will see images of men, women and children doing everything from hunting and fishing to surfing. Petroglyphs are an important piece of Hawaii’s past; care needs to be taken while viewing them.

Polihua Beach

The name Polihua translates as poli, meaning cove or bay, and hua, meaning eggs. One of Lana'i's most beautiful beaches, it is famous for its nesting turtles. Polihua is a good beach to explore, or to relax and sunbathe on; however, swimming and surfing are not recommended because of the rough waters and powerful undertow.

Shipwreck Beach (Kaiolohia)

Though it is not safe for swimming, its beautiful views and magnificent shells make Shipwreck Beach (Kaiolohia) a favourite destination for visitors to Lana'i. The turbulent and unpredictable waters of the area have led many ships to an untimely end near here. The beach's main attraction is the famous shipwreck, which stands high on the reef. A World War II Liberty ship, it was one of three Navy vessels grounded here during the 1940s. The 8-mile (13-kilometre) beach is a great spot to sunbathe, enjoy a picnic, fish, walk and explore.

Sweetheart Rock (Pu'u Pehe)

Known as one of Lana'i's most recognisable landmarks, this towering rock rises out of the water between Hulopo'e Bay and Manele Bay. According to legend, a jealous warrior from Lana'i kept his beautiful maiden hidden in a sea cave near the rock, so no other man could see her. One day a storm came in, drowning her. Heartbroken, he carried her body to the top of the rock and buried her in a tomb that can still be seen today. He then leaped to his death. Sweetheart Rock is within walking distance of Four Seasons Resort Lana'i.
