Its newest cultural facility is the award-winning Tolbooth, designed by Scotland's leading architect, Richard Murphy. The Tolbooth has been impressively refurbished and the extended Grade A-listed building has retained original features such as the dome ceiling in the main auditorium as well as incorporating state of the art technology throughout its eight floors. The main auditorium can accommodate up to 166 people seated theater style but at the touch of a button the space can be transformed to suit a an event for up to 225 people standing.
