Suzhou Dongshan Hotel, located in the Dongshan scenic spot, Lake Taihu, which is praised as “paradise in paradise”. As a garden-style hotel at lakeside and also a prestigious State Guesthouse, it covers an area of 453,560 m2 including building area of 78,000 m2. Surroundings are beautiful scenery, verdant greenery and numerous fruit trees. Featuring a nice blend of colors and sleek fittings each room is fully equipped with a host of state of the art facilities. The hotel has 550 sleep rooms and 2 meeting rooms. Once upon a time in 2016, Matt Levy, founder of Covert Cocktail Club, hosted a secret speakeasy as an intimate place for strangers to gather in his home. The only way to find out about it was via word of mouth. No address was given, the only clue being a sign placed in the window, “Cocktails Here”.
A lot of people thought it was pretty cool, even before The New York Times wrote about it. But that was all pre-pandemic, and this is a new era.
