Beijing Horticultural Expo, as an A1-level expo, the highest rank, is the largest international event China has held since the 2010 Shanghai Expo. The Expo runs from April 29th to October 7th, 2019 in Yanqing District of Beijing at the foot of the Great Wall. Some 110 countries, international organizations, China’s province-level regions, businesses, and individuals showcase a wide variety of herbs and flowers at the Expo, including rare and endangered plant species. Strolling among the 503-hectare park, tourists will be amazed by grand pavilions and gardens along the way.

Open to the public in 1999, Shijinglong Ski Resort (石京龙滑雪场) is the first ski resort ever built around Beijing. Though its glamor has been fading with a dozen of ski resorts sprung up in the past 10 years, Shijinglong Ski Resort still keeps a decent position in Beijing's ski resort circle, loved and frequented by its loyal skiers. Shijinglong Ski Resort is one of the most beautiful ski resorts around Beijing. It is perched on the south slopes of Daqingshan Mountain with Longqing Gorge at its east, Guanting Reservoir at its west and Badaling Great Wall at its south. It is located in the administrative area of Yanqing County, about 80km north of Beijing city center. Shijinglong Ski Resort boasts its south ski slopes seldom seen around Beijing. Skiers can face the sunshine while skiling down the slopes. This ski resort is mainly targeted at young skiers, holidaymakers and international tourists since it is situated on the golden tourist route in Beijing covering the nearby attractions such as Longqing Gorge, Badaling Great Wall, Juyongguan Great Wall, Ming Tombs.

Yudu Mountain is a place that is barely known, and also a reminder of the most primitive natural environment in people’s minds, with picturesque scenes created by mountains, rocks, forests, springs, waterfalls, flowers and grasses, bringing you a tranquil natural environment and delights by wildlife. It is located in the mountain of northwest Yanqing County, covering an area of over 100 square kilometers, connected with Yuhai highway from No. 110 national highway. The streams highlighted by beautiful cobblestones flow freely even in freezing days among this green world created by lush trees around. The flowers are in bloom all the years round except winter. Green mountains, singing birds and blooming flowers invent a beautiful picture revealing tranquility, peace and calm. Here, you can see the pure and green Wangyou Lake, gorgeous high mountains and mysterious forests, every beautiful thing you can imagine can be seen in this area. Yudu Mountain is a little-known virgin land and a green memory preserved the most primitively by nature in Beijing. The mountains, rocks, forests, springs, waterfalls, flowers, and grass are all available in the scenic, while the beautiful scenery is clear, secluded, quiet and wild. When you walk along the trail, you feel like you are in a dreamily beautiful picture. You can have a close contact with the pure and translucent Wangyou (lotus) Lake, the beautiful alpine meadow, and the original and mysterious forest. Covering an area of 5,436 acres (2,200 hectares), Kangxi Grassland is the largest prairie in Beijing, 9.3 miles (15km) to the west of Badaling Great Wall and 50 miles (80km) from Beijing downtown. Adjoining Guanting Lake to the west and Haituo Mountain to the north, the grassland is one of the best places to experience the exotic Mongolian lifestyle. In summer, it is cool and humid, which makes it a fine summer resort; while in winter, when it snows and the river is frozen, Kangxi turns into a white paradise, where visitors can go skating, fishing and sledding. Kangxi grassland is flat and vast with abundant plant and animal resources. The best time to visit it is spring and summer, especially June to September. During that period of year, the green grass carpet is dotted with colorful flower clusters, such as cogon, clover, wild chrysanthemum and dandelion. Flocks of cattle and sheep are wandering on the meadows, some browsing around, while some lying down for a nap. Along the river shore, silver gulls, wild ducks, grey cranes, swans, rabbits, foxes and voles run freely. White Mongolian yurts are scattered around, which adds more charm. Kangxi Grassland has the largest state-operated horse racecourse in China. There are superb horserace arena, professional horsemanship club, hunting ground and jeep race club inside. On Kangxi Grassland, riding horses must be the most interesting activity for visitors in the day time. Under the azure sky, visitors can ride a horse to dash on the broad grassland, with soft breeze brushing cheeks; or wander slowly in the meadows, enjoying a good view of the sunset scene. If visitors are unable to ride a horse yet, no worry, there are also professional coaches to teach you patiently.

This section of wall is the first section opened to tourists (in 1957) after reconstructed. Badaling Great Wall shows the Great Wall as it would have looked originally, and it does not look too new. That is another reason of why most travelers choose Badaling Great Wall. There is a Great Wall Museum and Great Wall National Theater close to Badaling Great Wall. The theater offers you a chance to get a full view of the Great Wall of China.
