Kitesurfing or kiteboarding is a popular activity in Koh Samui which hosts a good number of schools dispensing courses of this extreme sport combining surfing and paragliding. Maenam is one of the favourite spots for Kitesurfing in Samui due to its excellent location sheltered by Koh Phangan to the North (another great kiteboarding spot holding Phangan Breeze Kite Jam yearly competition) and featuring perfect wind conditions – from eight to 20 knots – from November to March. The main Kitesurfing centre in Maenam is run by a long-term French expat named Dominique Chamonin, who is IKO instructor level 2. His shop/centre – KSK (Koh Samui Kiteboarding) is located in Maenam Town, on the road heading to Pinnacle Samui Resort; the shop also sells all the equipment necessary for kitesurfers.

After completing a thorough training with safety instructions dispensed by very professional staff, wanna-be zip-liners are taken deep in the forest where seven platforms linked by strong steel cables are highly-perched in the trees. The zip-lining course measures 500m through an outstandingly superb natural environment featuring lush vegetation, centenary trees and superb waterfalls. After gliding from tree to tree, participants enjoy a refreshing bath in one of the basins at the foot of the waterfall; Canopy Adventures is an eco-friendly thrilling activity for the whole family (with children from seven years old).
