Built on a plateau high above the meandering Chavon River and modeled after a 16-century Mediterranean village, this cultural center is home to artists’ studios, craft workshops, art galleries, restaurants and boutiques concealed behind coral stone buildings. Along winding cobblestone streets, be a part of classes taught by international painters, designers, and writers teach their craft as a part of an “Artists in Residence” program at the Interim Classes taught at Chavon each January and during the summer months. Guests of Casa de Campo have a unique opportunity to mingle with artisans while visiting Altos de Chavon. Under the direction of noted artist and designer Emilio Robba, artisans create works of art in pottery and tapestries.
