Denna 330 meter långa klass II-listade viadukt ligger i Castlefield, den äldsta delen av Manchester, omgiven av 2000 års historia. Byggd 1892 av Heenan och Froude, samma ingenjörer som arbetade på det ikoniska Blackpool Tower, transporterade viadukten person- och godståg in och ut från Manchester Central Station och Great Northern Warehouse fram till 1969.
Efter stängningen av järnvägslinjen stod Castlefield Viaduct oanvänd men underhålls regelbundet av National Highways. Nu har det återfått sin plats i hjärtat av staden och firar sin del i Manchesters förflutna, nutid och framtid genom att förvandlas till en ”trädgård i himlen” som öppnade 2022.

This new way of discovering a city via a walking tour with various challenges is a great way to learn about its history and discover its layout.
Simple And Fun
Each Tourist Scavenger Hunt is around 40 steps, 2-3 hours in duration on a 3-4km circuit which brings you back to the start.

Our initiatives focus on minimising waste, conserving energy and embracing digital solutions. Plastic water bottles are eliminated in favour of large-format dispensers. Reduced HVAC and lighting policies conserve energy during low or no occupancy periods. Digital or reusable signage cuts back on waste, and we also remove single-use items such as notepads, pens and coasters from meeting spaces.
