The gourmet temple, architecturally reminiscent of a modern church, opened its doors on 2 December 1971. The Munich-based building contractor and passionate gourmet Fritz Eichbauer fulfilled his dream: to bring fine dining to Germany. Tantris marks the beginning of a new culinary movement. The Michelin Guide awarded Tantris and its former head chef Eckart Witzigmann its first star as early as 1973. The second star came a year later. Since then, the stars never stopped to twinkle over Tantris. No other restaurant in Germany has been awarded two or three stars uninterrupted for so long. For the past 20 years now, Hans Haas, characterised as a ‘master of simplicity’, has shaped the style of the Tantris cuisine. What makes this place so special? It is the atmosphere that conjures up the magical moments. Once avant-garde and today cult, Tantris is a restaurant that engages all the senses. What is found here, cannot be replicated anywhere else. Felix Eichbauer carries on the family tradition and ensures that guests will continue to enjoy unforgettable evenings at Tantris in the future.
