About us
Set within the idyllic country estate on the outskirts of Edinburgh, Melville Castle is an enchanting venue for your event. Once the hunting seat of Mary Queen of Scots who planted Chestnut trees for her beloved Rizzio, which still stand in the woodland to this day. The current Georgian Castle was built incorporating the very same foundations by Henry Dundas, 1st Viscount Melville, in 1786 for entertaining on a grand scale, which continues to this day. In recent years the castle has been sympathetically restored and offers an array of rooms perfect for every size of event, from small meetings to a large exhibitions; from 4 delegates in a private dining room to 220 guests in our marquee. Guests are invited to enjoy the tranquil comfort of this historic castle including our 33 comfortable bedrooms, on site brasserie restaurant & cellar bar, local woodland walks, country pursuits and activities such as clay shooting, golfing, horse riding and falconry.

With 7 elegant public rooms, a striking marquee pavilion and ample bedrooms the castle provides a stunning venue to host events ranging from corporate meetings, private dining and romantic Scottish weddings. Melville Castle is located 20 minutes from Edinburgh Airport and six miles from the city centre. It has four main meeting rooms, each with different capacities and settings. We will guide you through every aspect of your event to ensure you have a memorable day in the tranquil setting.
