Jackson's original town site, built in 1915 as a livery stable, we are currently Jackson's oldest building! It wasn't until 1918 that we were converted into a Yellow Stone stage coach, taking visitors to and from this historic park. In 1948, Vera Cheney brought her first piano player from New York City and transformed the previous mercantile into a theatre. The National Museum of Wildlife Art, founded in 1987, is a Jackson Hole museum holding more than 5,000 artworks representing wild animals from around the world. Featuring work by prominent artists such as Georgia O’Keeffe, Andy Warhol, Robert Kuhn, John James Audubon, and Carl Rungius, the Museum’s unsurpassed permanent collection chronicles much of the history of wildlife in art, from 2500 B.C. to the present. Built into a hillside overlooking the National Elk Refuge, the Museum received the designation “National Museum of Wildlife Art of the United States” by order of Congress in 2008. Boasting a museum shop, interactive children’s gallery, café, and outdoor sculpture trail, the Museum is only two-and-a-half miles north of Jackson Town Square, and two miles from the gateway of Grand Teton National Park.

Yes, there’s plenty of powder and pitches, but here’s a little known fact: Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is a great a place for beginners to learn how to ski and for intermediates keen to cruise long groomers. Beginner and intermediate trails make up half of our terrain, meaning that our non-advanced/expert terrain acreage – 1250 acres – is larger than many ski resorts' total terrain. While JHMR is famous for the Aerial Tram and expert chutes, they're only half the story: Bridger Gondola and Apres Vous Quad access the mellow side of the mountain, and the new and improved Casper area caters to intermediates.
