About us
Lunga House is a fine old Scottish Country House, originally a 16th century Tower House. Castellated, turreted and set on green lawns amidst tangled woodland, the house benefits from stunning views of the sea stretching from the Corryvreckan to Loch Melford encompassing the islands of Jura, Scarba, Luing , Shuna and beyond to the mountains of Mull. The House provides the ideal setting for a special occasion, wedding or dinner party or a quiet retreat where you can enjoy walking, fishing, horse riding or simply relax and read a book in one of the many beautiful rooms or even under a tree in the enchanting garden. For a special occasion to be celebrated the house lends itself to candlelight dinners parties , champagne receptions with delicious canapés or simply local oysters, a buffet of mouth-watering local seafood and meats, a hog roast on a spit, a traditional Scottish feast, or perhaps a themed occasional, for example Casino Royal complete with roulette and blackjack. There is no restriction to using the house only, we can arrange for a marquee to be provided for suitable functions, this can be dressed suitably for the occasion for example as a ballroom, a Moroccan tent with carpets and throws or as a twinkling woodlands theme with fairy lights, wild flowers and benches. Its extensive grounds are beautiful: Surrounding the house are lovely gardens and wooded areas that create the most perfect backdrop to any ceremony. Inside, you are welcome to host your ceremony wherever you like (providing it’s practical!) – in our ballroom, or breakfast room or dining room.
