About us
The Retreat is located just north of Mangochi, on the palm fringed southern shore of Lake Malawi. Just a few miles away is Boadzulu Island, the most southern part of Lake Malawi’s National Park. Our rooms are just a few steps from the beach, yet designed with seclusion in mind. On The Makokola Retreat grounds, pathways lead you to accommodations nestled in the midst of magical natural gardens. It is haven of rest and relaxation, where you can feel at one with the environment. The Retreat’s 400 square meters of highly adaptable spaces, indoors and outdoors, are at one with the relaxing landscape. Two salons offer 240 square meters of comfortable, air-conditioned indoor meeting space, with a capacity for 110 guests.
