Located 1,640 feet (500 m) upriver from Canal Street on the banks of the Mississippi River. It is named after former Mayor of New Orleans Ernest Nathan Morial. It has about 1.1 million sq. ft. The Caesars Superdome (originally Louisiana Superdome and commonly The Superdome or The Dome) is a domed sports and exhibition venue, located in the Central Business District of New Orleans, Louisiana, United States. Plans were drawn up in 1967, by the New Orleans modernist architectural firm of Curtis and Davis. Its steel frame covers a 13-acre (5.3 ha) expanse.
