About us

”La Grancia” Country Resort is a charming 14th century fortress once used as a "Grancia", a granary for the storage of the produce grown on the property. Centrally located among the Val d’Orcia (part of the UNESCO World Heritage List), the Val di Chiana and the Crete Senesi, it is perched next to the delightful hilltop village of Montisi, overlooking the countryside between Pienza and Montalcino. The surrounding land, interspersed with small vineyards, olive trees and thick woodland, is largely devoted to the cultivation of wine & olive-oil. The large spaces available and the wide range of "scenari" (historical courtyards, spacious gardens, swimming pool area, 1800 small theatre) make the estate particularly suitable for arranging events such as weddings, parties, business and club meetings, incentive programmes, receptions, cocktails, concerts, conferences.

Strazzanti was created by the 3 Strazzanti sisters with our youngest sister & professional Chef Emilia leading the experiences directly in Sicily. We continue the story and memories of our grandparents who taught us everything about our Sicilian and Neapolitan heritage. Growing up we understood our Italian heritage through them as people, their stories and by sharing, eating and cooking the dishes that they grew up with from their homeland and using the ingredients that our relatives would send to us in England from Sicily & Naples in small parcels. When our grandparents left us, it reinforced as a family that what they taught and shared with us is a huge part of our cultural identity, and we could not risk that heritage disappearing. Together as a family and working with other Sicilian families our passion is to give back to the land and work with like-minded young entrepreneurs, landowners and farmers in Sicily to keep this heritage and Sicilian traditions, which we all lovingly grew up with, alive.
