About us

Welcome to Grande Albergo Alfeo, a classic hotel near Ortygia in the centre of Syracuse, Sicily. Founded by the Ancient Greek Corinthians in 733BC, Syracuse (or Siracusa to the locals) is an ancient city that Cicero described as 'the most beautiful of them all'. In the very center of Syracuse only 300 meters from the small island of Ortygia / Ortigia, the location of the Grande Albergo Alfeo hotel places you at the very heart of this rich and fascinating historical city. The hotel offers 39 fully furnished rooms that are tastefully decorated recently to provide utmost comfort to the visitors and guests. We also offer a meeting room accommodating up to 80 guests that can be hired for events, conferences, meetings and other parties. The room is equipped with necessary infrastructure to make your event successful and memorable.

Strazzanti was created by the 3 Strazzanti sisters with our youngest sister & professional Chef Emilia leading the experiences directly in Sicily. We continue the story and memories of our grandparents who taught us everything about our Sicilian and Neapolitan heritage. Growing up we understood our Italian heritage through them as people, their stories and by sharing, eating and cooking the dishes that they grew up with from their homeland and using the ingredients that our relatives would send to us in England from Sicily & Naples in small parcels. When our grandparents left us, it reinforced as a family that what they taught and shared with us is a huge part of our cultural identity, and we could not risk that heritage disappearing. Together as a family and working with other Sicilian families our passion is to give back to the land and work with like-minded young entrepreneurs, landowners and farmers in Sicily to keep this heritage and Sicilian traditions, which we all lovingly grew up with, alive.
