About us
Mediterranean Palace Hotel is situated in the heart of Thessaloniki's commercial, business, as well as cultural life, close to one of the most picturesque areas of the city- the "Ladadika". Access to almost the entire city center is immediate, even on foot, within a few minutes. Every room out of 111 guest rooms in Mediterranean Palace has been designed to provide the highest standards of comfort and luxury. The decoration is defined by elegance and excellent taste; the finely equipped room that covers every guest’s need and the impeccable service meet the demands of the attainable luxury that characterizes Mediterranean Palace and guarantee an unforgettable stay. Seven conference rooms are available to host different kind of corporate events, of 10 to 300 people. The fully equipped multiple function meeting rooms, ideal for product launches, seminars, presentations are carefully assigned by the experienced banqueting department staff, to satisfy each events needs.

The Museum of Byzantine Culture aims in presenting various aspects of life during the byzantine and post-byzantine periods: art, ideology, social structure and religion, as well as how historical changes and the political situation were affecting people' s everyday life.
At the same time, the activity of the Department of Educational Programmes, the good structure and function of the conservation laboratories and of the archaeological material storerooms, the provision of scientific know-how to other Balkan countries, the organisation of scientific meetings and conferences, as well as the editing and publishing work, render the Museum into an exceptionally important centre for the preservation, research and promotion of Byzantine and Postbyzantine culture. Since the Museum' s inauguration in 1994, an annual bulletin is published, the first of its kind by a Greek public museum.

The museum is housed in a building designed by architect Patroklos Karantinos and is an example of the modern architectural trends of Greece. Built in 1962, the museum had a new wing added to it in 1980, in which the findings from Vergina were displayed, up until 1997. In 2001 and 2004, in the run-up to the 2004 Athens Olympics, the museum was extensively renovated and its permanent exhibits reorganized.

The central rooms hold exhibits from the archaeological excavations conducted in Thessaloniki and the broader area of Macedonia. The new wing hosts two exhibitions: The Gold of Macedon, with artefacts from the cemeteries of Sindos, Agia Paraskevi, Nea Filadelfia, Makrygialos, Derveni, Lete, Serres, and Evropos; and The Thessaloniki Area in Prehistory, with material from prehistoric settlements, dating from the Neolithic to the Early and Late Bronze Age.

What started in 1983 as a limited six week engagement at the Imperial Palace Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada (now the LINQ), celebrates 40 years of entertaining more than 40 million fans around the globe.
