For several thousand years, Tromsø has been a meeting place for people from different cultures. Traders from near and far moved here after Tromsø was granted city status in 1794 and, more than two centuries later, Tromsø remains a popular meeting place. Tromsø is a leading, modern city easily accessible by air, car, bus or boat. Tromsø has a reputation as a pulsating little big city – round the clock, throughout the year, exotic, intimate, colourful, full of experiences and full of Northern Norwegian charm.
Over the past decade, Tromsø has positioned itself as a host city for large national and international conferences, and a host of companies and organisations have chosen to hold their national courses or conferences here. The number of delegates has ranged from two to 1700, and a variety of large conferences are already booked for the years ahead.
