A variety of events showing the regional culture of Yeosu take place including the Hyuncheon Sodongpae game, Yongchul Darigi and various parades such as the Yi Sunshin Portrait parade and the Turtle Ship, Panok Ship parades. The festival is held on the 3rd of May every year to commemorate the introduction of the Turtle Ship to the battlefield by General Yi Sunshin
