The "River Gallery" is the largest meeting, event and reception space available in the building. It can accommodate a sit-down function for 200 people or a stand-up reception for up to 300 people, and it is available for use between 5-11 PM, seven days per week. Other meeting spaces/rooms, which include the classroom, boardroom, theater, and cafe' are available for meeting and reception rental between 7 AM and 11 PM, seven days per week. Use of in-house catering is required in most cases, at a contractual cost in addition to any room rental fees. Additional insurance may be required, and other restrictions may apply, for events that will allow for the consumption of alcoholic beverages within the building. For a nominal additional fee for each guest, rental of meeting and event facilities within the building may include access into the museum exhibits during the hours of 9 AM and 5 PM.

A meeting room deposit of 20% of the rental rate is required of client at the time of booking. A 30% catering deposit is required of client 30 days prior to the event. Room deposits are refundable only if event is cancelled 30 days or more prior to event; 60 days or more prior to event scheduled for the River Gallery. The catering deposit is refundable if event is cancelled 14 or more days prior to scheduled date. All deposits may be applied to a future facility rental and/or catering services for events cancelled between 10-60 days prior to the originally scheduled date, provided the event is rescheduled within 120 days of the original date. Cancellations due to weather or disasters will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.

The Dalles, Oregon, is located on the east end of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, just a 75-minute drive from downtown Portland and the Portland International Airport. The average annual rainfall in The Dalles is 14 inches per year. There are 14 hotels/motels within 25 minutes of the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center.
