The Museum is home to more than 175,000 historical and scientific objects with an emphasis on Texas and the Southwest. The science collection consists of many thousands of catalogued specimens that represent the disciplines of botany, entomology, malacology, ornithology, mineralogy, herpetology, mammalogy, invertebrate zoology, meteoritic and paleontology. In August 2008, the Museum’s Omni Theater returned to action, offering new guest amenities while marking a major step in the construction of the Museum’s new facility.
