The Prado Museum in Madrid is one of the greatest art museums in Europe and even the world. Centering on the massive art collections gathered by Spanish royalty over the centuries, the Prado displays important Spanish and Flemish paintings, Classical statues purchased from Italy, medieval religious treasures confiscated from monasteries, and even some Romanesque frescoes taken from a Madrid church.
The Museo Sorolla in Madrid is dedicated to the works of the Spanish impressionist painter Joaquin Sorolla.
Joaquin Sorolla was an Impressionist from the city of Valencia and his former studio-mansion in Madrid has been converted into a museum reproducing perfectly a typical early 20th century house.
The building, built in the years of 1910 and 1911, has been left as it was when the artist died in 1923, and his paintings are displayed inside. The canvas he was painting just before he died remains in place, with brushes next to the unfinished work.
Sorolla painted in several styles, although he is best known for his beautifully lit Mediterranean beach scenes. Most of his works show calm and serene scenes, mostly of the sea, children, and women.
All of his styles are represented in the museum, including some noteworthy portraiture. He was also an art collector, and the objects he amassed in his lifetime (such as ceramics and tiles) are also on display.
The artist also designed the mansion’s Andalusian-style garden which can also be visited.

Once the San Carlos Hospital, the remodelling of this building began in 1981 and in 1986 the Centro de Arte Reina Sofía was inaugurated, becoming the principle location in Madrid for national and international exhibitions. It is home to a variety of art-related activities, such as conferences, courses, poetry recitals or contemporary music concerts. In 1990 the collection of modern Spanish art was added to the museum, when it was moved from what was then the Museo Espanol de Arte Contemporáneo (MEAC) which today is the Museum of Anthropology.
In the center of Madrid there is a secluded place where you can still enjoy nature and quiet. The Royal Botanical Garden is full of surprises for those who come to him because he is full of beautiful spots that include more than two centuries of history. Furthermore, this unique space introduces visitors to the knowledge of science with years of tradition as Botany.
The possibilities offered by this site are many and varied. The only limits are your desire to enjoy and learn and respect for the plants. Anything else gives it to the Garden
The Real Sitio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial is a palace complex, basilica and monastery. Commonly known as the Monastery of El Escorial, the palace was the residence of the Spanish Royal Family, the basilica is the burial place of the kings of Spain and the current home monastery of the friars of the Order of St. Augustine. It is one of the most unique Renaissance architecture in Spain and Europe. Located in San Lorenzo de El Escorial (Madrid), occupies an area of 33,327 m², on the southern slope of Mount Abantos, to 1,028 m altitude in the Sierra de Guadarrama.
Also known as the Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Monasterio de San Lorenzo El Real, or simply as El Escorial, was devised in the second half of XVI century by King Philip II and his architect Juan Bautista de Toledo, but later intervened Juan de Herrera, Juan de Mijares, Gian Battista Castello Bergamasco and Francisco de Mora.
Was considered, since the late sixteenth century, the Eighth Wonder of the World, both in size and functional complexity for its enormous symbolic value. Its architecture plateresque paced Renaissance classicism. Massive work of great monuments, not only is a perfect building plots, but also a huge receptacle of the other arts..
IFEMA is the Trade Fair Institution of Madrid. Its 30-year experience of staging trade fairs has made it the most important of its kind in Spain and one of the leaders in Europe.
Its activities centre on the staging of commercial events representative of the different industries and the managing of its space and infrastructure for every type of activity: from trade fairs organised by third parties to conventions, congresses and any type of meeting or event. Its principal aims are to generate wealth and development for the Madrid Region and project the image of Madrid within and beyond our borders.
Las Ventas is the largest bullring in Spain and the third largest capacity in the world after those of Mexico and Valencia (Venezuela), however it is the second largest in terms of the diameter of the ring after the Ronda bullring. It is located in the neighborhood of La Guindalera in the Salamanca district, and is generally considered by professionals, enthusiasts and critics as the biggest in the world, together with the Real Maestranza de Sevilla
The Puerta del Sol (Spanish for "Gate of the Sun") is one of the best known and busiest places in Madrid. This is the centre (Km 0) of the radial network of Spanish roads. Barajas International Airport
Havaalanı
4 mil
It is the main international airport serving Madrid in Spain. In 2010, over 49.8 million passengers used Madrid-Barajas,making it the country's largest and busiest airport, and in 2009 it was the world's 11th busiest airport and Europe's fourth busiest airport. It opened in 1928, and has grown to be one of the most important aviation centres of Europe. Located within the city limits of Madrid, just 9 km (5.6 mi) from the city's financial district and 13 km (8.1 mi) northeast of the Puerta del Sol, Madrid's historic centre. The airport name derives from the adjacent district of Barajas, which has its own metro station on the same rail line serving the airport.
The Madrid–Barcelona air shuttle service, known as the "Puente Aéreo" (in Spanish), literally "Air Bridge", was the busiest air route in Europe, with the highest number of flight operations (971 per week) before 2007. The schedule has been reduced since February 2008, when the Madrid–Barcelona high-speed rail line was opened, covering the distance in 2½ hours, and quickly became popular. Barajas serves as the gateway to the Iberian peninsula from the rest of Europe and the world, and is a particularly key link between Europe and Latin America. The airport is the primary hub and maintenance base for Iberia. Consequently, Iberia is responsible for more than 60 percent of Barajas' traffic.
The Golf Club Olivar de la Hinojosa is located within the so-called "Campo de las Naciones", a prime location just minutes from downtown Madrid.
The Club is composed of an 18 hole par 72 6300 meters in length, one 9-hole par 29, 1386 meters long and a lighted practice court with about 80 seats. These facilities allow any player to enjoy all aspects of the sport. In addition, the Club has other facilities to complement its sports and leisure activities: Tennis, Paddle, bar, restaurant, sauna and golf practice areas.
The best-known gay area in the city is Chueca. This neighbourhood, or barrio, is right in the centre of Madrid, just off Gran Vía. You can get there easily by Metro (Line 5, Chueca Metro station or simply walking from Gran Vía. Hundreds of gay-oriented businesses, including bars, coffee-houses, restaurants, design shops, clubs, and clothiers are available for the intrepid explorer, and you can wile away many hours in this section of the city. Chueca has found a new lease of life in recent years, with the gay population investing money in local business and property.
This recently reformed market is in the Chueca district. A street market used to be located here, but City Hall wanted to make big improvements in the area. The result is a three-floored building that includes a market, a restaurant and even a parking garage to make your visit more comfortable. It gets interesting as you climb up the stairs.
The ground floor is where the traditional market is. You will find fruits, desserts, meat, all kinds of cheese and jam, wine and vegetables. Everything can be found in any other street or regular market in Madrid, therefore I wouldn’t recommend buying any food here. On the second floor there are bar-like small stands, where you can do tasting and also see some show-cooking. Try everything you can, from vegetarian croquetas to fish-form ice cream. There is also an area for cultural activities and exhibitions, most of which are related to gastronomy.
But the best part of your visit will start as you reach the top floor. A big terrace with views to the district’s roof-tops is awaiting you. The bar is kind of a chill-out area, with big couches and tents to protect you from the summer sun, and it is an extension of the restaurant “La Cocina de San Anton”. It has an indoor area as well as a terrace to enjoy your meals that is separated from the bar area. I recommend visiting the third floor because if you can also catch the sunset, then your visit would have been totally worth it.
Wonderful place to have some tapas, drink some wine or just walk around!
There are 33 stands inhands of professionals that not only sell their products, but also offer their advise to the clients. There is a flower shop, a fishmonger, a butcher and a bakery among many other stands offering all kinds of food and also kitchen utensils and even a bookstore.
The market will be open from Monday to Sunday from 10:00 to 22:00. The central area will be open until later.
