Het koninklijk kasteel — en de hele oude binnenstad van Warschau — werd volledig verwoest tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog en later herbouwd als symbool van de volharding en de wil om te bestaan van Warschau. De kasteelroute, die bestaat uit 32 ongelooflijk gereconstrueerde kamers, herbergt onder meer een collectie schilderijen van Rembrandt.
