Leipzig Hauptbahnhof is the central passenger station in Leipzig and is one of Deutsche Bahn's busiest long-distance stations with around 135,000 travelers and visitors every day. With a covered area of 83,640 square meters, it is the largest terminus station in Europe in terms of surface area. The façade of the station building facing the city center is 298 meters wide.
In terms of the number of platform tracks, it has been surpassed in Europe by Frankfurt, Munich and Zurich Central Stations and Paris East and North Stations since 1996.
