聖彼得教堂是馬來西亞最古老的天主教教堂。它建於 1710 年，在荷蘭人馬里伯·弗朗茨·安博爾捐贈的土地上建造。當時，這個地區位於馬六甲核心城市之外。
教堂中最古老的物品是鐘，1608 年在果阿製造。它是從荷蘭人在 1641 年佔領期間燒毀的早期教堂中救出來。
