The nature reserve is surrounded by Mediterranean scrub and the wetlands from which Torre Guaceto gets its name: it comes from the Arabic gaw-sit meaning ‘place of fresh water’ because of the water springs along the coast. Clay or rocky cliffs with small inlets alternate with stretches of low, sandy beaches with dunes up to 10 metres high. Marine Protected area Torre Guaceto is a paradise for freedivers and divers teeming with underwater fauna, while a lush posidonia grows on the sandy bottom. In the wetland, numerous birds such as the marsh harrier, moorhen and grey heron find shelter among the reeds. Every birdwatcher will be enchanted.

Strazzanti was created by the 3 Strazzanti sisters with our youngest sister & professional Chef Emilia leading the experiences directly in Sicily. We continue the story and memories of our grandparents who taught us everything about our Sicilian and Neapolitan heritage. Growing up we understood our Italian heritage through them as people, their stories and by sharing, eating and cooking the dishes that they grew up with from their homeland and using the ingredients that our relatives would send to us in England from Sicily & Naples in small parcels.
When our grandparents left us, it reinforced as a family that what they taught and shared with us is a huge part of our cultural identity, and we could not risk that heritage disappearing. Together as a family and working with other Sicilian families our passion is to give back to the land and work with like-minded young entrepreneurs, landowners and farmers in Sicily to keep this heritage and Sicilian traditions, which we all lovingly grew up with, alive.

This new way of discovering a city via a walking tour with various challenges is a great way to learn about its history and discover its layout.
Simple And Fun
Each Tourist Scavenger Hunt is around 40 steps, 2-3 hours in duration on a 3-4km circuit which brings you back to the start.
