Lobby

The magnificent Carlo IV lobby used to serve as the main hall of the Czech Mortgage Bank which opened here in 1896. It has been restored under careful supervision of conservationists to its original splendour and it belongs to the most representative areas of the hotel. The colossal hall with four dominant black ionic columns is softly lit to emphasise the 19th century’s decoration. Gilt stuccoes and braids, cupids and coats of arms of Czech royal towns have been immaculately preserved in its former beauty. Part of the lobby hosts a reception area whereas the second part is a café with a relaxed atmosphere. The historical lobby is an ideal venue for a fashion show, gala event or cocktail reception. It can be rented as a whole for larger events or only partially in connection with other areas, depending on the type of the event.
