闽江及其各支流在福建-江西边境沿线的山区上升，然后通过从西南向东北横穿该省的山脉流入东中国海。由此产生的流动产生了格状的排水模式，侧向支流沿着山谷的方向。Min 这个名字虽然通常用于整个系统，但只适用于穿过沿海山脉的南坪以下河道。在此之上是源头 —— 从山脉向西流动的富屯河和晋江 —— 以及两条排水该省主要内陆山谷盆地的支流 —— 沙河（从西南流经永安和三明）和吉安河（从北部山脉流动）沿江西-浙江边境）。这条河的总长度约为 360 英里（580 公里），其流域的面积约为 21,600 平方英里（56,000 平方公里）。

福建马尾修船厂是福建省最大的造船厂，始建于 1866 年，当时福建省政府表示，它是中国第一家专业的现代化造船厂。它成为现代中国最大的船舶工业中心。马尾航运政策是当时在中国和远东地区船舶工业基地中规模最大、最完整的设备，从 1868 年开始创建的 “满庆”，该设备于 1907 年结束，总吨位为 44 座，总吨位 57,550 吨，占全国总量的 82％输出。造船技术不断更新，从船只到铁木船的威胁，以及装甲舰。造船业是一个综合性的科技水平得到体现，并推动了上游和下游产业的发展，同时也创造了大量的科技人才和产业工人。第三，它提供了现代中国第一所引进的现代西方教育示范技术学校，将学校和海军舰船工程学校合并起来，按照一项技术划分为近代的专业高等教育机构。它是现代中国第一家现代化造船厂。140 年来，造船厂马尾经历了起伏，经历了变化。近年来，该船厂通过生产工艺的不断改进，加大了技术改造，现在随着以下类型船舶的设计、建造了 35000 吨的生产能力，并开发出了多产品船型。其中，集装箱船 700 箱的生产周期、质量和价格作为国际航运一直是该市的 “标杆”，吸引了越来越多的客户。在交付三只拖船之前的一段时间新加坡。据说马尾造船厂将在 2010 年将造船业的生产规模扩大到 24 至 30 个产能。
