O Templo Romano, com mais de 2000 anos, é o monumento ex-libris de Évora e é uma das ruínas históricas mais importantes do país. O templo romano em Évora foi construído no primeiro século, durante a época de César Augusto. Tem uma longa história, servindo como testemunho de muitas transformações e diferentes usos ao longo dos séculos. Foi praticamente destruído quando os bárbaros ocuparam a península ibérica no século V e serviu como cofre de banco e açougue para o castelo de Évora no século XIV.

Igreja de São Francisco - Évora Uma das características marcantes da fachada é um alpendre de igreja com arcos de diferentes estilos — um exemplo típico do “casamento” entre o estilo gótico e o mourisco encontrado em tantos monumentos desta região em Portugal. Sobre a porta manuelina, podemos ver os emblemas dos reis que encomendaram sua construção - D. João II e D. Manuel I - cujos emblemas eram o pelicano e a esfera armilar, respectivamente. Uma particularidade da Igreja é que ela tem uma nave única, terminando em um teto abobadado com nervuras, que tem o maior vão de toda a arquitetura gótica portuguesa. Nas laterais, podemos ver doze capelas, todas revestidas com madeira entalhada barroca. A capela principal, datada do início do século XVI, ainda mantém importantes características renascentistas, como os púlpitos. Vale a pena notar a decoração harmoniosa de pedra, madeira entalhada e azulejos na capela da terceira ordem, em um dos braços do transepto. No interior, os visitantes podem ver a estranha Capela dos Ossos, construída durante o período filipino (século XVII). Os pilares e paredes estão completamente cobertos por ossos. Também vale a pena observar a porta do final da Renascença, onde os capitéis das colunas parecem estar decorados de maneira diferente, dependendo se se olha do exterior ou do interior.

Cromeleque e Menir de Almendres

O cromeleque de Almendres é composto por 95 pedras dispostas em dois círculos. Algumas das pedras são decoradas com esculturas esquemáticas e geométricas. Um pouco mais longe, podemos ver o menir, que tem cerca de 4 metros de altura. Pesquisas recentes comprovaram que a maior parte das pedras está em seu lugar original e datam o cromeleque do neolítico (4.000 a.C.) e do calcolítico (2.500 a.C.).
