Built in 1876 and affiliated with Historic Hotels of America and Southern Living Hotel Collection, the Capital Hotel underwent a two-year closed-door renovation to make it the only 4-star, 4-diamond hotel of its kind in the state of Arkansas. With 94 guest rooms and a staff ratio of 2.5 staff per room, we work closely with clients to coordinate all the details regarding accommodations. The Capital Hotel boasts over 6,000 square feet meeting space, fully integrated A/V managed in-house, seven total kitchens, and two on-site restaurants. Each function room at the Capital Hotel is serviced by their very own state-of-the-art culinary kitchen. This guarantees the integrity of our exquisite food, ensuring that every plate comes directly from the hands of Chef and his team to you and your guests, at the perfect temperature and with flawless presentation. With Presidential-grade security and 24/7 video monitoring, our intimate, residential nature ensures exclusive attention. Included in these collections are approximately 76.8 million pages of paper documents, 1.85 million photographs and over 84,600 museum artifacts. Official records, as well as donated materials, will be made available to researchers.

Tour the museum's historic grounds and visit a pre-civil war neighborhood, including the oldest home still standing in Little Rock and the site where William Woodruff once printed the Arkansas Gazette. Interact with a living history character and see first-hand how early residents lived. Inside the Museum Center, explore Arkansas made art and artifacts in four exhibit galleries, see contemporary Arkansas art in the Trinity Gallery, and watch kids having fun in the interactive children's gallery. Shop for quilts and other contemporary crafts in the Museum Store, and see the award-winning introductory video in the theater. The museum celebrates Arkansas history and heritage year round with annual heritage events and festivities, and living history reenactments. Do you know the history of the Bowie Knife in Arkansas? Come see one of our most popular exhibits. Free teacher lesson plans on slavery in Arkansas as well as our series Chapters in Arkansas History are accessible from our education resources section. Admission & Hours of Operation A small fee is charged for a guided tour of the historic grounds and restored houses. Tours are free the first Sunday of each month. All galleries and regular visitor activities inside the new museum facility are free. But this summer changes all that with the re-launch of Pier 17 at the Seaport District NYC. Home to the Seaport Museum and the city’s largest concentration of restored maritime buildings, Pier 17 is being reclaimed for New Yorkers via dynamic food, drink, art, architecture, retail, and entertainment concepts that foster community and engage the city’s denizens, year-round. Pier 17 and the surrounding Seaport District comes out of its tourist trap shadows as its new tenants incorporate the neighborhood’s rich past, while embracing its future as a port of discovery. For history buffs, Pier 17 is one of the most interesting places in NYC. The economic growth of New York in the first half of the 19th century was driven by the Port of New York’s position as an import–export exchange and cargo center for emerging American and global markets. The Seaport and Pier 17 became a gateway for international shipping, maritime activities and the wholesale fish trade. South Street was known as the “Street of Ships” and the Wavertree, which is docked alongside Pier 17 to this day, arrived in New York City in 1895 en route to Calcutta with jute cargo aboard. The ship was acquired by the South Street Seaport Museum in 1968 and went through a 16-month, $13 million restoration. “These are the kinds of ships that built New York,” says Jonathan Boulware, executive director of the South Street Seaport Museum. A hub of commercial virtue (the finance, sea trade and printing press businesses were all located in this dense port) and accompanying vice (the area is home to some of the city’s oldest drinking dens, which played host to all manner of illicit activities back in the day), the Seaport was the first 24-hour district in New York, hence the phrase “the city that never sleeps”.
